The mornings were

Sleepsake started with Zoey, our founder, and a few years of the kind of neck and shoulder pain that most side sleepers eventually stop mentioning. Long hours at a desk, side sleeping every night, and a deep ache that would start the moment she lay down on her shoulder. By 2 or 3 in the morning she'd roll over to give it a break, and the other shoulder would start.

She could get through the day fine. Bedtime was the hard part. Some mornings she'd wake up with her arm completely numb. Other mornings it was just the same dull throb in the same spot, and she'd lie there working out whether it was even worth trying to go back to sleep.

She kept telling herself rest would help. It didn't.

She tried what most people try. Physio twice a week. The chiropractor. A few rounds of remedial massage. A cortisone injection that helped for about six weeks. Anti-inflammatories before bed.
